The 2011 Amateur and Junior World Championships ended on July 30 with an exciting come-from-behind victory by Kenny Glassman to capture his first Advanced Mens World title. An uncharacteristically bad hole by then-leader Dan Hastings on hole one opened the door for Glassman who eventually took the overall lead for good on hole 8. This made for an exciting finish for the huge gallery that had been following the four finalists around the picturesque nine-hole layout at Monroe Community College. Hot-shooting Cameron Colglazier finished strong and ended up tying Hastings for second place. More

Some of disc golf's hottest players contended in the fifth annual Santa Maria Open in Santa Maria, Calif., on July 31. Eric McCabe and Will Schusterick, who are ranked 11th and 12th, respectively, in disc golf's world rankings, finished the tournament in first and second place. It's almost as if this was scripted. On the heels of the PDGA Amateur World Championships, where National Collegiate Alum Kenny Glassman won the Advanced Champion title, the NCDGU is announcing the qualifier events that will lead up to the 2012 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships. Glassman earned 2nd Team All-American honors at the 2010 NCDGC competing for Western Illinois University. The National Collegiate Championship is quickly becoming a jumping off point for budding the future stars of disc golf. More

Dozens of disc golfers braved triple-digit temperatures to turn out for a tournament in River Parks on July 31. Organizer Joel Woody told KRMG that the tournament has grown over the last several years, and they really wanted to do something to give back to the Tulsa, Okla., community. They chose the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma as their designated charity, and asked participants and attendees to donate canned food. More
