Tuesday, Aug. 9, was the first round of disc golf in the 2011 PDGA World Disc Golf Championships, and the atmosphere at DeLaveaga Disc Golf course in Santa, Cruz, Calif., was hushed and tense. DeLaveaga's wooded slopes house by far the Santa Cruz areas most popular disc golf course, and a quiet day at the course is highly uncommon, even on a foggy and wet morning.
