With the pouring of concrete and tightening of some bolts, the installation of a new nine-hole disc golf course began this past week at the Shippensburg Township Park, Pa. Scott Evans, a Shippensburg University campus minister and a proponent of the new course, told the News-Chronicle that they recently got their ninth and final sponsor to make their course become a reality. The Flying Lea disc golf team raised money through sponsorships and grants to get these new baskets for their course at Bancroft Bay Park in Albert Lea, Minn. Their old baskets will go to Riverland college to create an on campus course. More

Disc golf course opens at park

Last April, Cherry Valley, Texas resident Eric Audet approached the Beaumont City Council with a proposal to add a disc golf course to Oak Valley Park. The council didn't make any promises. But six months later, the disc golf course is open in the 5-acre Beaumont park. The course was built with $7,000 in city funds and a dozen disc golf players who volunteered their labor. More



Halloween-themed disc golf tournament at Holler in the Hills

There will be a Halloween-themed disc golf tournament at Holler in the Hills disc golf course in Brownsville, Ky., on Oct. 23. There will be decorations throughout the course and players are encouraged to wear "spooky attire." Holler in the Hills is a private course owned and designed by Howie Baird. More

Deonna Shake, instructor of exercise science and health, and a dang good mother, was the recipient of the Educational Disc Golf Experience National Educator of the Year Award on Oct. 19. More

The West Coast Flyers and Neil "Doc" Esteves broke ground on the new disc golf course at Airport Heights Park in North Bend, Ore. The first and 10th holes are finished, as each basket, nine in all, has two different tee boxes to complete the 18-hole course. More
