Time is limited for those who want to play a round of disc golf at one of the oldest disc golf courses in Austin, Texas. The City of Austin plans to rip out the chain baskets and shut down the Pease Park disc golf course at the end of the day on Dec. 31. Disc golfers mourned the loss of the course, saying they've had some great times there. "It's one of the most challenging courses around. It’s got some of the most picturesque holes you’re going to see," said golfer Dustin Beck. More

The city of Ocala, Fla., and the Ocala/Marion County Sports Commission are hosting two activities that are expected to generate more than $1.1 million in spending in the community. The American Youth Football Southeast Regional Tournament and Cheer Competition events will bring more than 4,000 people to town, who will spend just over $1 million. In addition, the 2010 Player's Cup Disc Golf Match Play Championship at Pine Oaks Preserve will attract 64 golfers and 250 spectators who will spend an estimated $98,900. More

The new golf course at Coggshall Park in Fitchburg, Mass., doesn't include sand bunkers, lightning-fast greens or a pro shop. And you don't need golf clubs to play it. "It's not your typical golf," said Brian Anderson, of Dudley. "It's Frisbee golf." Anderson worked alongside city park commissioners to put the finishing touches on the first nine holes of the new Coggshall Park Disc Golf Course, which is open to the public at no cost. More

People can learn how to use the strange-looking steel baskets in Nelson's Isel Park, in Wellington, New Zealand, now that the course they are part of has been officially opened. An information board detailing the course layout, rules and etiquette for disc golf was unveiled during the opening of Nelson's first disc golf course last week. The nine-hole course is one of only 14 disc golf courses in New Zealand. More

Disc golf is set to make its return to Pemberton, B.C., Canada, just a few months after the unauthorized course near the popular Lumpy's Epic trail was dismantled. After a number of Pemberton residents expressed their desire to the Village for a new course to be constructed in town, one that will be at least partially maintained by the Village is expected to be ready by the spring. More
