Why portfolio assessment beats project focus for development projects
TechTarget
Simple tools, such as an Excel spreadsheet, can help an organization handle the impact of its IT and SOA portfolio when planning new projects and business capabilities. However, more sophisticated Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools can help to improve the ability to gather, manage, share and understand information about the existing SOA portfolio. Gartner estimated the market for these tools in 2011 was about $1 billion.

What if you were told that you have a lot more resources in your organization than you think? The truth is that resources are never allocated as efficiently as they could. Modern project management mostly originates from the US Navy/Lockheed's Polaris missile and submarine programme in the 1960s.

Using strategy to drive your employee engagement survey
Ottawa Business Journal
Many people in management don't consider an employee survey to be a valuable tool for strategic planning. Instead, they think of a survey as "just an HR thing," or just one more administrative task in their already busy schedules. And even though they try to get behind the survey project, they may never really commit the time and energy needed to make it a success. That kind of thinking is how organizations miss out on the value of this powerful engagement tool.

Why e-mail will not be important in the future
Canadian Lawyer Magazine
The unstructured and linear nature of e-mail is the overall reason why e-mail file communications in business and professional organizations will be replaced by other forms of communication. They will be imbedded with "project" organizing tools that enable lawyers, other professionals, staff, and clients to communicate on a file, share ideas, and manage tasks in a cohesive way, beyond anything e-mail was ever designed or is able to do.
