Wal-Mart CEO Says Retailers Can Help Economy

U.S. stocks slid the most in six weeks, following European markets lower, after retail sales decreased at more than twice the rate forecast by economists and concern grew over the future of Citigroup Inc. General Electric Co., Macyís Inc. and American Express Co. tumbled at least 5.5 percent after the Commerce Department said purchases fell 2.7 percent in December as job losses and dwindling access to credit forced consumers to cut spending.     Walgreen Announces Complete Care Wellness Program

    Walgreen Co. said it is rolling out a program it says will save employers and health insurers money, while giving discounts to employees at its brand name drugstores. The program, called Complete Care and Well-Being program, is being launched through Walgreen's Take Care Health Systems business. Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreen said Complete Care will offer clear pricing to employers and give workers a 15 percent discount on Walgreen brand products and lower prices on prescription drugs. More

    Jewel-Osco to Start Labeling Healthy Foods

    Supervalu Inc., parent company of Jewel-Osco, unveiled a labeling system aimed at giving shoppers a simpler way to decipher nutrition levels in food. The tags are aimed at helping shoppers identify healthier options, and are expected to ultimately cover about 10 percent of the items in a store.
