Johnson and Johnson is looking to sell most of its U.S. feminine hygiene business, as it seeks to exit low-growth areas, but wants to keep its K-Y brand, writes Reuters. The diversified health care giant wants to unload its Stayfree and Carefree pads and O.B. tampons, according to Reuters.

Polymers used in clean up of tanker grounded by Sandy

After Hurricane Sandy, lifting the 184 ft tanker John B. Caddell off the Staten Island street where it had washed up (see earlier story) was only part of the answer to the pollution threat posed by the ship. A layer of bunker fuel shrouded the vessel's flooded engine room, creating a contaminated work area. C.I.Agent Solutions of Louisville, Ky., assisted with remediation so salvage work could move forward.

Celanese announces acrylic emulsions price increase in Americas
Nonwovens Industry
Celanese Corporation, a global technology and specialty materials company and provider of emulsion polymers, announced it will increase the price of acrylic-based emulsions sold in the Americas. Pure acrylic and styrene acrylic emulsions will increase by up to $0.08 / wet pound and vinyl acrylic emulsions will increase by up to $0.03 / wet pound effective Feb. 18, 2013, or as contracts allow. This price increase affects all applications including, but not limited to, adhesives, paint and coatings, building and construction, nonwovens, glass fiber, carpet, paper and textiles.
