Disposables aren't going anywhere. Parents and caregivers value the benefits of the one-time use products. They're super absorbent, hygienic and convenient. At the same time, more and more consumers are looking for products with eco-friendly characteristics, while also choosing brands that follow environmentally sustainable practices. So, while diaper makers are doing their part to create the "greenest" products they can, other companies, like Knowaste, are figuring out ways to recycle absorbent hygiene products (AHPs) such as baby and adult diapers, as well as feminine hygiene products.

SAS has utilized its wide range of equipment to offer a fully merchandised line of performance apparel knits including fine-gauge stretch fabrics, technical top weights, and novelties for post-workout comfort. “The company stocks premium synthetics with unique performance attributes, from domestic and NAFTA/CAFTA qualified suppliers,” SAS said in a press release.

New cotton sustainability assessment tool

Textile Exchange, a nonprofit dedicated to accelerating sustainability in textile manufacturing, has launched the Organic Cotton Sustainability Assessment Tool (OC-SAT), an online tool for assessing the environmental, economic and social impacts of organic cotton agriculture. The OC-SAT is part of TE's continuing effort to chart tangible data on organic cotton cultivation. In 2014, TE commissioned PE International, a German sustainability software and consulting company, to conduct a global Life Cycle Assessment of organic cotton.

IR performance in a softer hand

Hologenix LLC, has been developing and manufacturing what it calls “bio-responsive” textile materials since the early 2000s — first offering its mineral-infused products under the Holofiber® brand and more recently under the Celliant® brand. The technology involves a blend of thermo-reactive minerals ground to a size of less than 1 micron and embedded in a man-made fiber or filament. The minerals capture the body’s radiant heat and convert it into infrared (IR) energy that is directed back into the tissue.
