From manmade fibers to plastic bottles

Today, over 200 billion bottles of water are drunk every year and bottles made of synthetic materials have virtually replaced glass as a packaging material for water and other drinks. Bottles made of synthetic polyethylene terephthalate are not only practical and unbreakable but because of their low weight, transporting them also consumes less energy. A further advantage is that the material can be easily recycled.

Overall, disposable diapers segment garnered about 66 percent market share in the baby diapers' market owing to unique features such as ultra-absorbency, range of ergonomic shapes and sizes.

With this project, the wfk – Cleaning Technology Institute e.V. and the Hohenstein Institute are complying with the requirements of the Closed Cycle and Waste Management Act, also working towards increasing the competitiveness of the German textile industry.

US nonwovens products help fight Ebola
NONWOVENS INDUSTRY
U.S. Nonwovens Corp. announced that its arsenal of disinfectant formulas are in accordance with CDC guidelines and can be used to disinfect surfaces with suspected or confirmed Ebola virus infection. According to Jake Ludlow R&D Engineer 3, Antimicrobials, at USN, it is much harder to destroy non-enveloped viruses than enveloped viruses like Ebola. USN is working on other delivery methods such as swabs, vapors, triggers, aerosols and wipes under R&D.
