P&G to build second Indonesian plant as demand rises

Anticipating the growing demand for consumer goods in Indonesia, Procter & Gamble says it will invest $100 million in a second plant next to its new unit in Karawang, West Java. "P&G is making another $100 million investment to build world-class manufacturing facilities in Karawang," said Bert Wouters, PT Procter & Gamble Home Products Indonesia president director.

US adds more than 500,000 manufacturing jobs since 2010

The U.S. manufacturing sector has added 554,000 jobs since February 2010, according to a report from the Democratic members of the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress. The report also shows manufacturing exports to be up 38 percent since 2009, exceeding the nation's pre-recession peak for exports.

Norbert Klapper named Rieter Group chairman

The current head of the business, Peter Gnagi, is stepping down at year end by his own request. US manufacturers 'optimistic' about growth in 2014

Sales will be stronger at U.S. manufacturers in 2014 after revenue this year fell short of projections, according to a survey by the Institute for Supply Management. Purchasing managers at manufacturers estimate a 4.4 percent increase in sales in 2014. Revenue rose 3.4 percent this year. The group's forecast in April showed purchasing managers projected a 4.8 percent advance in revenue for 2013.

Canadian utilities grapple with issue of 'flushable wipes'
