Grain futures mixed, livestock prices mostly drop

Grains futures traded mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade. Wheat for May delivery gained 5.25 cents to $7.385 a bushel; May corn slid 6 cents to $6.835 a bushel; May oats were unchanged at $3.49 a bushel; while soybeans for May delivery rose 1.75 cent to $13.60 a bushel. More

Target Corp. has joined the lower-salt movement, becoming the first Minnesota foodmaker to join the National Salt Reduction Initiative, a partnership of health groups, restaurant chains and food companies. The Minneapolis-based company pledged to reduce salt levels in three of its Archer Farms-branded products: Cold cuts, tortillas and breakfast cereals. More

Wheat futures extended the biggest advance in a week on unexpected demand from China for exports from the U.S., the world's largest shipper. China, the biggest consumer, bought 116,000 metric tons from the U.S. in the week ended March 17, the most for any week since July 2005, Department of Agriculture data showed. More
