Firearms manufacturer unveils futuristic smart rifle for Canadian armed forces

Firearm manufacturer Colt Canada is working on a smart rifle that would reduce the burden on Canadian soldiers. The rifle is being equipped with a smart-targeting system that could automatically engage targets.

Indoor gun ranges had high traffic on Valentine's Day this past weekend — and not just from sharpshooting sweethearts. One Las Vegas facility created a Valentine's Day experience for divorcees looking to let off some steam. V-Day is apparently always the busiest day of the year for the Montgomery Indoor Shooting Complex in Alabama, where the range is considered a hip date spot.

The new Umarex Octane pellet rifle shoots .22 caliber pellets at rimfire speeds with the ReAxis gas piston. These air rifles use the SilencAir system to reduce muzzle noise. Rimfire costs 4x as much as pellets and rimfire availability is still problematic.

Glock pistols approved for special operations Marines
Marine Corps Times
In a Marine Corps first, the service recently added a Glock pistol to its list of authorized individual weapons, optics and modular attachments. However, the 9mm semi-automatic Glock 19 pistol is officially approved for use only by personnel assigned to Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, according to a force-wide message issued in mid-February. In fact, the pistol will carry a non-Marine inventory number because it is a U.S. Special Operations Command asset, according to the message.

ATF framework logic would ban additional ammo, beyond M855, as 'armor piercing ammo'
On Feb. 13, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives released its proposed framework for determining whether a particular projectile may be exempted from the definition of "armor piercing ammunition."
