Study: Some airports will feel holiday crush year-round

House passes bill restricting government meetings, travel

The U.S. House of Representatives recently voted overwhelmingly in favor — 388 to 1 — of H.R. 2061, otherwise known as the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act. Sponsored by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., the bill is intended to increase transparency around government spending by increasing financial reporting requirements for federal agencies.

Thanksgiving travel making comeback from recession dip

More Americans are expected to travel this year to celebrate Thanksgiving, according to reports from multiple travel associations. The number of cars on the highway, airline passengers, and train and bus passengers are all expected to increase during the most heavily trafficked days on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday afterward. Thanksgiving this year falls on Nov. 28.

Foreigners studying in US up 7 percent

VideoBriefThe number of foreigners studying in the U.S. jumped 7 percent to a record 819,644 students last year, the State Department said in a new report. The trend is being driven by China, whose enrollments are up 21 percent to 235,000 students, as well as new national scholarship programs in Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The number of American undergraduates studying abroad also set a new all-time high, to 283,332.

    1 million people become 'trusted travelers' under Global Entry program

    One million people have been given the designation "trusted traveler" under its Global Entry program, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced recently. Launched in 2008, Global Entry allows expedited entry into the U.S. for pre-approved, low-risk international travelers.
