Join the California Chapter of the Wild Sheep Foundation at the Marriott Rancho Cordova for the ninth annual fundraiser on Saturday April 30. Individual tickets are $85. Raffle ticket packages and other fundraiser registration options are also available. Prior to the evening activities, take a tour of the California DFG Wildlife Investigations Lab from 1-3 p.m. or visit with exhibitors starting at 3 p.m. at the Marriott.

One Baja Sur and one Tiburon Island Desert Sheep permits are available on auction this month at Wild Sheep Foundation Chapters!
The Wild Sheep Foundation made five Desert Bighorn Sheep tags available on auction at WSF/FNAWS Chapter Banquets in 2011. Only two permits are left! We will offer one Tiburon Island permit and one Baja Sur El Vizcaino Biosphere permits at chapter auctions during April for the November 2011 through March 2012 Mexican desert bighorn season. These permits are in addition to the 33 permits we sold on auction during the Feb. 9-12, Wild Sheep Foundation Convention and Sporting Expo in Reno, Nev., raising more than $2.64 million. During the 2010-11 season on Tiburon, WSF & Desert Hunt hunters took six rams scoring over 180 Boone & Crocket points including the new No. 1 black powder ram!

More than 700 exotic and unusual taxidermy mounts are being liquidated at the celebrated World Class Big Game Trophy & Western Auction in Fort Worth, Texas. One of the largest sales of its kind in the country, it will have thousands of items for sale to the general public. The hunting trophies being offered are from a museum and private collections of big game hunters including the legendary Bill Weiss, who earned the coveted Outstanding Hunting Achievement Award by the Dallas Safari Club. Minnesota elk officially scores 458 4/8

The massive elk found by northern Minnesota hunter Ryan Muirhead and friends has scored 458 4/8 inches, ranking the bull as the fourth best non-typical elk of all time. The beast was discovered in Kittson County, and was freed by the group with a two-by-four and elbow grease. The bull eventually succumbed to its injuries two days later. After notifying the Minnesota DNR, Muirhead was able to claim the trophy and now has a amazing mount and story to go with it. More
North Slope musk ox could benefit from grizzly hunt

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is hoping a liberal, spring grizzly bear hunt on the North Slope will reduce the number of muskox killed by bears. Since the mid 1990s, the North Slope muskox population has declined from about 800 to 350, approximately 200 of which consistently reside in Alaska. The rest bounce back and forth between Canada and Alaska. More

The 2011-12 Hunting and Trapping Guide and big game applications have been mailed to all qualified resident big game hunters in Newfoundland and Labrador. Changes for the hunting season this year include an increase of 5,020 licenses for moose and a one-week extension to the hunting season, both pertaining to moose on the island portion of the province in established hunting zones.
