Entrepreneur    Share   Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
If you want to expand your business, you're going to need some cash. Money still isn't falling off trees for small businesses, and the lending seas can be a challenge to navigate. Money might be available thanks to stimulus spending, but that doesn't mean it's easy to get. More

The Harvard Business Review Conversation Blog    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail
Here's a question for you: If you had to come up with a checklist for your organization that was guaranteed to stifle imagination, innovation, and out-of-box thinking...a checklist designed specifically for people who want nothing to do with disruptive change...what would it look like? With a wink toward the irreverent, Youngme Moon, the Donald K. David Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School, offers hers. More

Pets still pampered in a tough economy    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Like any good mom, Pam Powell gives a pig ear to Abby when she’s been a good girl. But that's just the beginning of this supermom's spending on her 11-year-old Australian shepherd. There is the vitamin-enriched premium dog food. There are haircuts and nail jobs. There is the $70-a-month anti-inflammatory medication. And most recently? An orthopedic bed for those creaky hips. ohmidog!    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
A new genetic analysis indicates that man's best friend descended from Middle Eastern wolves, contradicting previous suggestions that the dog first evolved from wolves in Asia. "Dogs seem to share more genetic similarity with Middle Eastern gray wolves than with any other wolf population worldwide," said UCLA's Robert Wayne, who along with his colleagues studied more than 48,000 DNA sequences in dogs and gray wolves from across the world.
