The only management strategy you'll ever need
Inc.    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Business author Jeff Haden writes, "I was struggling to engage the audience. Okay, be honest, I tried not to let it show but I was dying onstage. So I took a different approach. 'In one sentence, what is the key to leading people?' I asked. Throwaway question? Absolutely. I knew no one would answer. That was the point. But someone did." More

Branding talk isn't helping your company
Fast Company    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Think of maps: A simple map pretends that the Earth is flat, and that's fine for getting you across town. But if you try to navigate a plane across the Atlantic on that principle, you're going to get a big surprise when you come in to land. Working with California Senator Juan Vargas on legislation he introduced to license groomers in the state, PIJAC was successful in securing a number of amendments to this bill. A licensing mandate in the bill was converted to a certification program, and various other provisions of the bill were modified. In its current amended form, however, the legislation scheduled for a hearing Tuesday, June 19, still contains several provisions that will place undue burdens on groomers as well as others that are ambiguous and problematic from an enforcement perspective. Researchers in New Zealand are calling for pet food companies to stop exporting eel to the United States to be used as a novel protein source in pet foods. One local pet food company, Addiction Foods, exports a range of gourmet pet foods to the US and other markets, marketing them as hypoallergenic or "earth-friendly." However, Massey University freshwater scientist Mike Joy is among a number of researchers calling for an end to harvesting long fin, New Zealand's only endemic eel. More

Like any new addition to an office, Dolly had an adjustment period. The hardest part: Learning not to bark at the mailman. Dolly is one of millions of dogs that accompany their owners to dog-friendly businesses every day. Even more will join her for Take Your Dog to Work Day. "I consider it a benefit like health care. It's a huge attraction," said Dolly's owner Erin McCormack, who works at Authentic Entertainment in Los Angeles as a producer on the Discovery Channel's "Auction Kings." More
