Statement Accessories, Bare Arms and Shoulders Rule the Red Carpet
from The Cleveland Plain Dealer
Grab a chunky necklace and start doing those bicep curls. Statement accessories and bared shoulders and arms were the looks of choice on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards Sunday night. Add to that equation flowing dresses in melting shades of no-color colors -- nude, cream, pale silver and paler gold -- intricately draped and tucked accents and prim up-dos, and you'll be well on your way to your own career as a Hollywood stylist. Titanic Tanzanite to be Graded by AGTA GTC
from AGTA
A rare treasure has just been uncovered! The largest tanzanite ever, an exceptional 525.55 carat clean, cushion cut tanzanite, has recently been cut and polished by AGTA Member Rare Multicolor Gems at their cutting facilities in Jaipur, India. The unusually large piece of rough was uncovered at the TanzaniteOne mining facility in Merelani, Tanzania, in early 2008. Rare Multicolor Gems’ skilled cutters have meticulously shaped this stone to reflect maximum brilliance, while keeping its incredible size and unique color. Plans are being made to send the extraordinary gem to the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) GTC for grading and certification according to the Tanzanite Foundation’s Tanzanite Quality Scale™. Jewelry Lights Up the Golden Globes
from Jewelry 101
All the fashion hounds are reporting a downturn in the dazzle department on the red carpet these days. The buzz goes something like: the troubled economy is keeping jewelry looks to a minimum, less is more will rule the day, blah blah blah. Either these folks are blind, or they simply didn’t watch the bling-filled shenanigans on the Golden Globes' red carpet. More

Every Woman’s Dream Dress: Sparkles and Chocolate
from InventorSpot
A question here. What does a woman love as much if not more that crystal and precious gems? I guess it would be safe to say that the answer is chocolates. And what do women love more sparkling Austrian crystals and Swiss chocolate? A dress that combines both! Lindt, the famous chocolate house, realized this and created a dress, to satisfy a woman's greatest needs, for jewelry and chocolate. The festive red dress was made of Lindt Chocolate's Lindor Balls and Swarovski crystals. More

Stealth Wealth Redux: Luxe Labels Looking Forward
from The London Telegraph
It's that strange, gloomy seasonal hinterland of January: the jollity of Christmas is over and the rites of spring are distant on the horizon. There's a feeling of austerity and bleakness around, partly due to the weather, partly the economic climate. Only the other week, Karl Lagerfeld said in an interview with the BBC, "I see (the recession) like a cleaning up. (The economy) was too rotten anyway – so it had to be cleaned up". Perhaps not for those poor souls who worked at Woolworths, but for the superannuated and those whose wardrobes are bulging with excess, it's certainly time for a reality check. More

Dressed to Dance: Your Inauguration Style Guide
from The D.C. Examiner
Of course Michelle Obama and Jill Biden will be the true belles of the upcoming inaugural balls, but every woman attending can make her own splash with the right attire, fashion experts said. Some women confident of an invitation to one of the grand events started shopping for gowns before the election results were even tallied, said stylist Lana Orloff of Washington. "There is such an excitement with the new family moving into the White House," said Ken Downing, senior vice president and fashion director of Neiman Marcus, Dallas, adding that many fashion-conscious women will take their cues from Michelle Obama. "She is certainly trend savvy as we've seen from her clothes, the interesting colors she chooses. Color is always very important, and fashion is so forward; there are so many great options."More
