The purpose of the U.S. Department of Education (ED) Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) is to obtain data related to the nation's public school districts and elementary and secondary schools' obligation to provide equal educational opportunity. The Trump administration is currently working to roll back the enforcement of civil rights laws by undermining the federal data collections.
The CRDC contains excellent reports on data that include: per pupil expenditures (and comparing them between districts and schools), school enrollment, gifted and talented enrollment, AP enrollment, suspension and expulsion categorized by student demographics. The public portal to use it is: https://ocrdata.ed.gov/DistrictSchoolSearch.
The following contains a list of data points that are at risk of being removed from the CRDC: (Note they are attempting to get rid of ALL school finance data collection)

In that border community, she used a combination of English and Spanish to navigate between cultures and establish relationships.

Students at Allentown's Harrison-Morton Middle School look forward to hearing the squeaky wheels of the technology cart approaching their classroom, though the iPads they hold may not be the latest models and time with them is limited.
A luxury in Allentown schools, such technology has become a necessity for many suburban students — something they're accustomed to tapping at-will and often.

Cody Sanford, a contributor for Forbes, writes: "It wasn't until my first job out of college — one in the wireless business — that I developed a passion for technology and saw how STEM impacts everything we do. This was the spark that led me to fall in love with the network engineering elements of wireless, and the more immersed I got in the industry, the more exposed and interested I was in other components of technology."

It’s something school IT leaders and other educators know well: Safety and security are crucial to learning. And schools have a lot to protect — starting, of course, with people and including millions of dollars (or more, for larger districts) of hardware, physical structures and other assets. IP video systems should be a key part of most organizations’ security strategies, particularly those with distributed environments. Ask these questions when installing IP video cameras.

The early learning and child care sectors in Canada are increasingly using technology to document children's learning, communicate with families and engage in continuous professional learning activities. Today's families have expectations of technology-rich communication with their children's educators, and today's students are increasingly adept at using technology to bolster their own efficiency and professionalism. Many will begin their careers in centres and programs that use sophisticated software for communication, documentation and planning, and they will need to be up to the task.

As today's technology gets into the hands of younger and younger kids, a high school class of coders looks extremely natural creating an app. In a recent Kenowa Hills computer science class led by teacher Ed Beickman, the students catch on quickly while coding android apps. "They started off the school year designing games and are now doing a survey taker app," said Beickman, in his second year teaching at Kenowa Hills, but first year using Project Lead the Way, a national program that offers curriculum, training and resources for STEM-related courses. "We're now designing an app that serves a purpose, makes your life or job easier: purposed based programming."

U.S. 8th graders can use computers to gather basic information and make simple edits. They also have some awareness of security risks in the digital world. But they’re less likely to understand the purpose of sponsored content on a website, use generic mapping software or know how to control color and text when creating a presentation.
Those are among the 2018 results of the International Computer and Information Literacy Study released by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement, which also conducts other large-scale international studies.

For English learners to make vital second-language strides, they must participate daily in a range of supported academic interactions with their peers and teachers. Merely providing opportunities to "turn and talk" or "think, pair, share" will not ensure development of English language understandings and skills. When assigned interactive tasks without relevant language support and clearly established objectives, English learners tend to focus more on "friendly discourse" than on producing conceptually competent responses with linguistic accuracy.

"Memories of Home" was featured this past summer on "Morning Edition," one of NPR’s award-winning stalwarts. In the segment, co-host Rachel Martin and NPR "resident poet" Kwame Alexander discuss poetry for "remembering where you’re from in order to move forward." The segment was based on the poem, "Where I’m From" by Kentucky’s 2015 poet laureate, George Ella Lyon. Martin and Alexander asked listeners "to write one of these yourselves. Draw on all five senses and use memories of your own to craft poems that reflect the people and the places that you came from." As fascinated as I was by the project and as much as the request "got my creative juices flowing," I had a quibble.
