California Expands Funding for Prosthetics Education from KPCC While most of the campus endures budget cuts, at California State University, Dominguez Hills one academic program began the school year in a much larger facility thanks to a partnership with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Long Beach. KPCC's Adolfo Guzman-Lopez says it's the state's only academic training program for people who fit artificial limbs and braces. more
Jordan Thomas Nominated for CNN's Hero of the Year

Jordan Thomas, a bilateral amputee from Tennessee who founded the Jordan Thomas Foundation and visited with lawmakers in Washington, D.C. alongside the Amputee Coalition of America and AOPA, has been declared a "CNN Hero" by the network. Hanger Expands East and West from Washington Business Journal Hanger, based in Bethesda, Md., announced it had acquired Creative Orthotics & Prosthetics Inc., Custom Orthopedics of Wyoming and certain orthotic and prosthetic assets from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The three purchases expanded Hanger's presence in three of its existing markets: New York, Wyoming and Pennsylvania. more
