Protect Your Profit Margin with EDC Credit Insurance
APMA
What would happen to your profit margin if a few of your customers didn't pay? Common practice is to offer customers open account terms of 30 to 60 days, meaning you're taking on all the risk. You may trust your customer to pay, but what about their customers? With integrated supply chains, one bad debt or bankruptcy can have a domino effect. Having credit insurance protects companies against risks such as a customer going bankrupt or refusing to pay. Attract More Customers. In addition to protecting your profit margin, credit insurance could help you attract more customers because knowing you are covered means you can afford to offer more generous payment terms — something every potential customer likes.

Ministry of Labour Blitz on Vulnerable Workers + Awareness Webinar
APMA
The first MOL blitz of 2013, running from May 1 to the end of August, will focus on Vulnerable Workers; described by MOL as new workers aged 14 to 24, inclusive, and new workers, including those aged 25 and older, who have been on the job less than six months or who have been reassigned to a new job. Companies who hire workers falling into these categories should expect a visit from MOL. A similar blitz in 2012 resulted in 5,452 visits to 4,614 workplaces and 14,498 orders issued under the Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and its regulations, including 553 stop work orders. On average, 3.1 orders were issued per workplace visit.
To help its members prepare for a possible MOL visit, APMA is pleased to partner with Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) to offer a complimentary awareness webinar, being held on May 22nd, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., to provide insight on what MOL inspectors will be looking for and what you can do to ensure your workplace is in compliance with the OHSA. Space is limited, so register early and don’t miss out! Follow the link to register.
