ASA to Receive Storehouse of World Vision's 'Partner of the Year' Honors at KBIS

ASA will receive the Storehouse of World Vision's "Partner of the Year" honors during the group's 14th Annual Crystal Vision Awards Breakfast, to be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, during KBIS in Las Vegas. "ASA is proud to be receiving the Storehouse's 'Partner of the Year' honor," said ASA Executive Vice President Mike Adelizzi. "The Storehouse makes a valiant effort to work with children and families worldwide to tackle the causes of poverty and injustice. ASA will continue to support their efforts to help these individuals reach their full potential." Exploring the Use of Ceramic Materials to Prevent Corrosion

There are many methods and techniques used for corrosion prevention. They generally include changing the environment, choosing the appropriate metal, monitoring surfaces, altering anodic areas, using chemicals that prevent deterioration and applying protective coatings. Typically these techniques are used for the protection of metal — the material that is most often the focus of corrosion prevention. In sharp contrast to metals, ceramics are less vulnerable to corrosion because their chemical bonds of ceramics are oxidized at the outset, and therefore, corrosion is already present.

Resurging US Manufacturing Will Look Different, More Automated — but Still Good

At Machine Inc. in Stoughton, Mass., aerospace and other parts are made more by robots than people. Largely gone are manual milling and machining operations, once a cornerstone of U.S. manufacturing and thousands of mom-and-pop shops. For example, inside the company's walls a block of solid aluminum is fed into an automated milling machine, and sometime later out pops a detailed manifold, with eight different holes in it to channel oxygen inside an airplane engine.
