ASA Members Report Flat Sales for April

ASA’s Monthly Pulse Report provides a regular snapshot of performance for the PHCP-PVF industry. For the month ending April 30, 2016, 50% of respondents reported a figure higher than the median; 50% reported a figure lower. In comparing the month with the same month in 2015, respondents reported essentially flat sales growth with a median of 0.1%. For the calendar year-to-date, respondents reported a median sales growth of 6.2%. Respondents also reported a median increase in sales of 3.9% for the trailing twelve months ending April 30, 2016. Inventory rose 3.0% for April, 2016 vs.2015. The median Three-Months Average Days Sales Outstanding dropped to 43.3 days for April. Nearly 54% of the participants reported an increase in gross margin percentages for April, 2016 vs. 2015. Company YTD Profit Before Tax increased for 52% of the respondents. Fifty-five percent (55%) of the respondents reported having more Full-time Equivalent Employees vs. a year ago. LEARN MORE

Another Record Year for YE in Memphis

Last week, 145 of ASA’s Young Executives met in Memphis, TN for the group’s Annual Spring Forum. 2016 was once again a record-breaking Spring Forum attendance year for one of ASA’s fastest-growing divisions. Centered around Dirk Beveridge’s Sales Innovation educational workshop, attendees were forced to think about how they sell and how to differentiate themselves from the status quo. Attendees were then invited to tour NIBCO INC.’s manufacturing plant in Blytheville, AR and were served up some fantastic Memphis barbeque, courtesy of a few pit-masters that work for NIBCO. The Young Executives Division is designed to develop the leadership skills and relationships of the industries young professionals. The 2017 Spring Forum will take place next May in Cleveland, OH. It's been said many times that younger generations are more socially conscious than their predecessors. Apparently for some, it's go green or go home. According to an article by Will Yakowicz, based on the Deloitte Millennial Survey, 44 percent have turned down a job offer because they couldn't relate to the company's values and 49 percent refused a work project that didn't align with their personal ethics. Overall, younger generations want to work for and buy products from companies that are socially responsible.
