Architecture Firm Billings Continue to Grow, but at a Slower Pace in November
The ABI score of 50.9 indicates that while a majority of firms are still experiencing an increase in firm billings, there were fewer firms seeing this expansion in November than in October. "Demand for design services has slowed somewhat from the torrid pace of the summer, but all project sectors are seeing at least modest growth," said AIA chief economist Kermit Baker. "Architecture firms are expecting solid mid-single digit gains in revenue for 2014, but heading into 2015, they are concerned with finding quality contractors for projects, coping with volatile construction materials costs, and with finding qualified architecture staff for their firms."

Houzz Survey Finds Kitchens Outlast Most Marriages
According to the 2014 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Remodeling Survey, 25 percent of those choosing to remodel have kitchens that are more than 30 years old, and another 41 percent are updating kitchens that are anywhere from 16 to 30 years old. Houzz found that most kitchens last two to four times longer than the typical U.S. marriage (eight years) and duration of car ownership (nearly six years).

Homeowner Financing of Remodeling Projects

How hard is it for homeowners to get financing for the remodeling project they want to undertake? Members of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry who responded to the latest NARI Business Pulse survey placed it in a neutral to difficult range. None indicated it was "very difficult" to get financing. About 30 percent indicated it was either "easy" or "very easy" for its clientele to secure the needed funds.
