Early Bird Pricing Extended to March 10 for 2015 Design to Lead Summit and ASID Legislative Symposium

Early bird pricing is extended to March 10 for the 2015 Design to Lead Summit and the ASID Legislative Symposium. Both events will be held in Washington, D.C., in mid-April and a combo ticket is available for those who wish to attend both through March 10. The ASID member price for the combo ticket is $300, and for non-members is $450. Students who attend the ASID Legislative Symposium will receive an additional discount – $170 (ASID member price), or $220 (non-member price, which includes a complimentary student membership). The 2015 Design to Lead Summit will take place on Monday, April 13, and will provide the next generation of design leaders with the education and skills needed to succeed as they take on next step management roles. Attendees will gain an introduction to key leadership competencies, expand their networks, and learn from the diverse experiences of experts via keynotes, panel discussions, interactive breaks, and a closing reception. The 2015 ASID Legislative Symposium will be held April 14-15 and will provide the training and knowledge needed to preserve practice rights at both the state and federal legislative level. Education Proposals Needed — Submit by March 15

ASID Education is embarking on a new approach to enhance our educational library through a call for education proposals. This method will cast a wider net, giving qualified candidates the opportunity to submit proposals to be considered for inclusion in the ASID library of educational programming. All accepted proposals will be approved for continuing education credits (CEUs).

Designers Weigh In on State of the Industry

California Regulators Investigate Laminate Flooring Fears

California environmental regulators said March 2 they are finding excessive amounts of formaldehyde in laminate flooring like that featured in a "60 Minutes" expose on Lumber Liquidators. Results from the Health Facilities Management/American Society for Healthcare Engineering 2015 Hospital Construction Survey clearly indicate that many hospitals and health systems are repurposing existing space as they continue to move other services off campus and into their communities.
