Dexigner    Share   Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The American Society of Interior Designers has issued its 2012 Environmental Scanning Report, an annual report on design industry demographics and trends and a forecast on what's in store for 2012. "There is no doubt that uncertainty in the financial markets and shifting socio-economics will continue to have implications for the interior design industry," said Randy Fiser, executive vice president and CEO for ASID. "However, from the types of buildings people will need to the types of services they will seek, there are boundless opportunities for designers who recognize these changes, adapt and plan for the future." The effect of interior design on daylighting
enlighten    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article

These decisions can have a big influence on the availability of natural light in a space and how much energy savings a daylighting system actually achieves. More

FacilitiesNet    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Limited budgets often lead managers to place a relatively high priority on material costs and coverage when selecting paints and coatings. But when managers look more closely, they find that costs vary widely, and the lowest first cost does not necessarily add up to long-term savings or a long-term solution. Managers can determine a paint's life cycle cost by adding the costs for materials, preparation labor, application labor, cleanup and disposal. More

Kitchens and baths continue to attract design focus
AIArchitect    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Although the housing market remains very weak by historical standards, signs that this sector of the economy is strengthening are beginning to emerge, particularly in the realm of kitchen and bath design. These two areas of the home generally get the most attention from their occupants, and therefore are the last areas to feel cutbacks as market conditions tighten — and the first to recover as conditions begin to improve. Indianapolis Star    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The Indiana Design Center is like a dream come true for designers and HGTV groupies — arguably one of the coolest places to shop in the area.
