A study conducted by Cone Communications has revealed that 71 percent of Americans now consider the environment when making purchasing decisions. Statistics also show that the same percent are reading and following the instructions for the green products they select and 66 percent of consumers are following the instructions to properly dispose of the green products.

Housing Starts Show Big Jump in March

The Census Bureau reports that housing starts experienced a big jump in March, with total starts running at a 1.036 million seasonally adjusted annual rate. But homebuilder confidence took a hit in April, due to increasing costs for building materials and rising concern about the availability of developed lots and labor, the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index showed.

Hamburg Unveils World's First Algae-Powered Building
Wired
The world's first building powered by algae has been unveiled at the International Building Exhibition in Hamburg, by engineering firm Arup. The "bioreactor facade" has been mounted as a kind of "second skin" onto the sun-facing sides of the BIQ building. The panels, which are more like tanks, contain algae that grow in the direct sunlight and can then be harvested and turned into a biofuel-like pulp that is burned in a generator at the heart of the building.
