Daltile Announces Winner of ASID Foundation Scholarship
ASID
Daltile, in conjunction with the American Society of Interior Designers Foundation, is pleased to announce Jessica Sapinoso as the winner of the third annual Daltile Interior Design Scholarship. As the grand-prize winner of the competition, Sapinoso was presented with a $10,000 scholarship at NeoCon 2014 to continue her education in the field of interior design. Sapinoso's winning design was on display at NeoCon 2014, where she was present as Daltile's guest of honor. First-, second- and third-prize winners each received a $2,500 scholarship, and 10 merit winners received a $1,000 scholarship each, for a total of $27,500 in scholarships awarded.

Unraveling the Professional Designation Paradox

Certifications and other forms of professional credentialing are the Jekyll and Hyde of the interior design world. By some accounts, these designations demonstrate a designer's professional knowledge and achievement, and they help designers to stand out in the marketplace from their less-qualified competitors. Others say they are essentially worthless because consumers don't know what they represent — and for the most part don't care. Although they may appear to be contradictory, it may be that both perspectives are valid and, in fact, complementary.
