Applied research at Harvard University indicates the value of creating flexible academic environments and coordinating new space types with desired educational experiences. New types of spaces should be coordinated with productive educational experiences: Don’t think that the space will remake learning. Don't try to generate new behaviors, rather, remove obstacles and create environments to amplify existing behaviors.

The Chapter Leadership Conference and Celebration – The ASID Awards Gala took place at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center and at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston July 16-18, 2015. Both events were resounding successes, exceeding attendance expectations and uniting the interior design community across all design specialties and regions of the nation. More than 300 chapter leaders came together at CLC to engage with peers, thought leaders, and with ASID national staff for two days of idea sharing, training, and networking. The Society’s three days in Boston culminated with Celebration, where the interior design community honored those who are transforming lives through design at an elegant dinner and awards show. Trend forecaster Laura Greenwood says we'll be so overwhelmed by over-sharing that we'll look for places in our own home to retreat and be comforted. "Designers are exploring ways of creating cocooning qualities, products where we can have social solitude, where we can reconnect with ourselves, where we can be more on our own," Greenwood says.
