New REGREEN Workshops for Fall

ASID debuts the new interiors-focused REGREEN Implementation Workshop this fall. The course addresses the industry-specific challenges interior designers face when renovating a residential space and prepares design professionals to make sustainable retrofit decisions that save money, improve home performance and contribute to healthy interiors. The all-day workshop offers 0.8 CEU and is taught by Annette Stelmack, Allied ASID, LEED AP BD+C, sustainable design consultant at Inspirit-llc, contributing editor for Green Building Advisor, LEED faculty, and co-author of Sustainable Residential Interiors. Cost is $240 for ASID members ($290 non-members).

Your mood for food can be changed by a restaurant's choice of music and lighting, leading to increased satisfaction and reduced calorie intake, according to a new study. "When we did a makeover of a fast-food restaurant, we found that softer music and lighting led diners to eat 175 fewer calories and enjoy it more," said the study's lead author, Brian Wansink, professor of marketing and director of Cornell University's Food and Brand Lab.
