Light Your Imagination — Support the ASID Foundation Through Legrand!
ASID Foundation and Legrand
Legrand recently made a generous $10,000 contribution to the ASID Foundation and has also made the ASID Foundation this year's recipient of Legrand's Light Your Imagination design competition and original exhibition. Legrand is asking design leaders to customize an adorne wall plate to fit their personal style, using creative elements like photographs, paint and fabrics, by Oct. 25. All personalized plates will be displayed in a stunning NYC exhibition on Nov. 6, and participating designers will be entered into the running to become Legrand's adorne 2014 guest designer! Each wall plate will then be judged via public voting on social media, as well as by a panel of expert judges prior to the event. The winner will be announced to press and the A&D community at the exhibition and will be invited to design a series of three wall plates in partnership with Legrand in 2014.

Be sure to submit your wall plate design today; Legrand will donate $20 to the ASID Foundation for each completed wall plate received.

Nature's Living Wisdom
David Report
Top trend forecaster Kristina Dryza asserts that, although we are preoccupied with trends, rhythm is the keynote of nature and is fundamental to wellbeing. She writes that we often forget our body is part of the body of nature and it's when we reference, embrace and embody the seasonal, circadian, lunar and tidal energies that we invite their wisdom to become our own. Her insights have implications for how designers integrate natural rhythms into the environments they create.

Why You Should Insist on Contracts
Duct Tape Marketing
John Jantsch remembers a time when he did not use contracts or agreements with his clients. "I never felt the need to inject a formal and legal aspect to the work I had proposed and so a handshake seemed like the way to go," he writes. "A few years ago I changed my tune completely on contracts — and not because I got burned or felt the need to create something legally binding."

Where Are Design Museums' Benches?
