4. Color trends in healthcare design and designing for the future
Healthcare Design Magazine    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Feb. 5, 2010 issue: We've all seen drab health care facilities that are cold, unpleasant, and outdated. I walk through a hospital every day with salmon-colored walls and then through a lobby that's filled with forest green and looks like an interior photo from the early 1990s. As designers, how can we prevent this outdated affect from happening to our designs in the future and be friendlier to the facility's wallet? Hospitals and other health care facilities are big, complex businesses and it can be a struggle for many to make ends meet for day-to-day operations, let alone renovations. And patients enter a health care environment with a huge brick of anxiety on their back as it is—walking into an uncomfortable environment doesn't make that any better. What are some solutions to these problems? More

Kitchen and Bath Business    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
April 2, 2010 issue: Opportunity does exist with the true luxury consumer. Then understand the values that appeal to the "new" luxury consumer. More

8. Contemporary softens trend toward austerity
Builder Online    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
June 4, 2010 issue: A "less is more" philosophy prevails in these recessionary times, and nowhere is this shift more evident than in kitchens and baths. The projects that received highest marks from the jurors in this year's Watermark Awards from Builder magazine illustrate a deft understanding of that distinction. More
