Penn State to Auction Intellectual Property Licenses
The Pennsylvania State University
Penn State plans to auction some good ideas. From March 31 through April 11, the university will conduct what is expected to be the first of many auction-style events to license intellectual property in a variety of categories. Winning bidders in this first auction will obtain licensing rights to patents derived from faculty research in the College of Engineering.

Jane Muir Appointed 2014 AUTM President

Jane Muir, RTTP, was installed as AUTM's 2014 President at last month’s annual meeting in San Francisco. During her remarks, she announced a number of new initiatives for the coming year to help proactively brand AUTM and the technology transfer profession as major contributors in the transfer of research discoveries into products that are making the world a better place.

Among the initiatives are:
  • The new About Technology Transfer video concisely and effectively describes technology transfer and how it benefits us all. The video is an ideal tool for conveying the technology transfer story to stakeholders and constituents. It can be viewed and downloaded from www.autm.net/AboutTT.
  • The Put a Face On It video project spotlights the real-world connection between our members' work and its ability to transform people’s lives.     AUTM Releases STATT Update

    A new update of the Statistics Access for Tech Transfer (STATT) interactive database has been released by AUTM. STATT provides a searchable compilation of U.S. and Canadian licensing survey data from 1991 through 2012, and now includes European data as well.

    Version 3.51 improvements include:
  • State and province data now yields more accurate search results
  • Better column labels for spreadsheet exports
  • Table of Canadian/U.S. dollar exchange rates
  • User interface improvements
