Rasor Appointed Managing Director of Licensing Within Michigan Tech Transfer
University of Michigan
Robin Rasor, M.S., CLP, RTTP, has been appointed to managing director of licensing within the University of Michigan Tech Transfer. Rasor oversees staff handling all functions of the licensing process at the university ranging from management and marketing of invention reports to overseeing all licensing activities, including developing and negotiating appropriate licensing terms for license agreements and maintaining and monitoring existing agreements.

UCLA Startup to Acquire US Desalination Membrane Innovator NanoH2O
Bloomberg
NanoH2O Inc., a manufacturer of reverse-osmosis membranes that purify seawater to drinking quality while lowering the cost of desalination, is being purchased by Seoul-based LG Chem Ltd. for $200 million. The UCLA startup makes water potable from fresh, brackish and saltwater sources. The acquisition is expected to close in April.

AUTM Releases STATT Update
AUTM
A new update of the Statistics Access for Tech Transfer (STATT) interactive database has been released by AUTM. STATT provides a searchable compilation of U.S. and Canadian licensing survey data from 1991 through 2012, and now includes European data as well.

Version 3.51 improvements include:
  • State and province data now yields more accurate search results
  • Better column labels for spreadsheet exports
  • Table of Canadian/U.S. dollar exchange rates
  • User interface improvements

    The AUTM Licensing Activity Survey: FY2013 is now open for data collection. The survey will be collecting data through mid-April.

    The survey includes several new and interesting supplementary questions for 2013. Perhaps the most interesting involves listing your most important licensed products, processes or services; those that have had the greatest impact on society.
