Innovation Act Delayed Amid Broad and Bipartisan Opposition
The House of Representatives has delayed consideration of H.R. 9, the Innovation Act, after broad opposition from inventors, small companies, universities, venture capitalists and the life science industry raised concerns that the Act weakens the patent system. A bipartisan group of Senators and Representatives also held a press conference to highlight their opposition to sweeping anti-patent legislation moving through Congress.

However, that does not mean that the fight is over.

Researchers in the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin are one step closer to delivering smart windows with a new level of energy efficiency, engineering materials that allow windows to reveal light without transferring heat and, conversely, to block light while allowing heat transmission, as described in two new research papers.
Number of Patents, Startups at Purdue Higher Than Ever Before
For the second year in a row, Purdue has posted record-breaking numbers in commercialization activities, including 40 startups, 25 of which are based on Purdue-licensed intellectual property, officials recently announced.
