The American Welding Society has been invited by Messe Essen GmbH of Germany to coordinate an American pavilion at the inaugural Brazil Welding Show, to be held Oct. 18-21 in São Paulo, Brazil.
Brazil's first ever welding specific show will run in conjunction with the sixth annual Corte & Conformacão de Metais show, the largest established trade fair for cutting technology and metal forming in South America. "We are grateful to Messe Essen for the opportunity to become a co-sponsor by coordinating an American pavilion," said Joe Krall, corporate director exposition sales for the American Welding Society. Ohio community college welding program gets $2.9 million grant

Steadily changing technology and greater specialization in the welding industry is fueling the need for an estimated 30,000 trained welding technicians each year, according to an industry report. A
$2.9 million grant from the National Science Foundation will help Lorain County Community College's, or LCCC's, National Center in Elyria, Ohio, for Welding Education and Training continue and expand its goals of educating thousands of welding technicians each year. Known more commonly as Weld-Ed, the LCCC-based center began in 2007 with a $5 million, four-year National Science Foundation grant.

to 75 jobs by 2013. Indiana Stampings, LLC, which produces metal stampings for the automotive industry, will invest

The first pipeline of the ambitious Nord Stream project is complete and ready to be filled with technical gas. The final and symbolic golden joint of the pipe has been welded in the Russian city of Vyborg in the Leningrad Region.
Most of the joints along the 1,220 kilometer long gas pipeline were welded with special robotic equipment, but the golden weld has
been made manually.
