I once dressed as Frankenfurter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show (yes, in lingerie) and sang the song "Sweet Transvestite" in front of a couple hundred people in the pursuit of a case of beer (don't judge, I was in college and a case of Milwaukee's Best was a treasure then).

Buoyed by Central Texas' continued job growth, the Austin-area office market saw rents for top-tier space reach a record high in the second quarter, the latest figures show.
Rents for Class A space — both in downtown Austin and across the region — hit all-time highs of $56.63 per square foot and $40.17 per square foot, respectively, according to Cushman & Wakefield's Austin office, which tracks the local office market.
Compared to 20 years ago, the current commercial real estate (CRE) market looks pretty grim. With the rise of e-commerce and virtual storefronts, many brick-and-mortar retail locations have decided it's easier and cheaper to close their doors and take the leap into online sales. New retailers are bypassing the CRE game completely, choosing to go fully digital from the start.
Two West Austin office buildings are under new ownership.
Rockpoint has acquired Las Cimas II and Las Cimas III, at Bee Cave Road and Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360), from GLL. GLL had owned the buildings since 2013.
HFF represented GLL in the transaction.
A purchase price was not disclosed. The Travis Central Appraisal District valued Las Cimas II at $52.9 million and Las Cimas III at $52.5 million this year.
A district judge has ordered City Council to put a petition on the November ballot that, if passed, would require Land Development Code rewrites, such as CodeNEXT, to be approved by voters.
The judge ruled that Council has a duty to put the measure on the ballot in November.
To be clear, voters will not be weighing in on CodeNEXT in November. They will be voting on whether to require a vote on such development code rewrites.
The city had argued that it was illegal to put zoning measures on the ballot.

Considerable research has been done on the importance of company culture. This research has yielded a simple but essential axiom: The team you surround yourself with is the greatest factor in determining company success. As numerous studies indicate, companies perform well when employees are happy, motivated and working toward a common objective. Simply put, companies flourish when people perform well, and a healthy company culture achieves just that.
Have you ever walked across solid oak floors, or sat behind a mahogany desk and felt an unexpected sense of motivation and wellbeing? You are not alone. The recent Workplaces: Wellness+Wood=Productivity report has proven that weaving wood into your office design and workplace can be a major driver of wellbeing, job satisfaction and productivity.
In 2017, retail e-commerce grew 16 percent to $453 billion, and it now accounts for 9 percent of all sales. Furthermore, two-thirds of millennials prefer online shopping to brick and mortar stores. What does this mean for the future of America's retail streets, districts, and malls — for all those physical stores? There's going to be hundreds of stores closing. In 2018, already more stores have closed than in 2017. What this means for the industry: a lot of retailers are moving stores into downtowns.
