In an attempt to circumvent what prying eyes see, Kent State University students Daniel Gur, Camden Fullmer, and David Steinberg spent a weekend together at a Hackathon at the University of Pennsylvania, and came up with a way to make the very public face of your Facebook stream at least look more professional. Called FaceWash, the website will search your Facebook posts, tags, photos and more to find things that might prove controversial or downright embarrassing, should a prospective employer decide to take the time to scan your publicly shared posts. An MP who turned down a student applying to his office for work experience over a foul-mouthed tweet has issued a warning to others applying for jobs. The unnamed pupil was rejected by his local MP Richard Graham after applying for work experience as part of a school project. Although Graham says he is "normally always happy" to give pupils the opportunity to work in his office, the Gloucestershire representative spotted a seemingly inappropriate tweet from the teen and changed his mind. Despite uncertain economic times, the latest MBA graduates from business schools in Canada and around the world are landing jobs (and good salaries) at a speedy pace unparalleled in a decade, according to a new survey. The annual survey of MBA alumni by the Graduate Management Admission Council shows that 91 per cent of 2012 graduates from Canadian business schools (compared with 92 per cent for schools worldwide) were employed at graduation, the highest rate since 2003. Most people think they will get their next job thanks to networking, according to a new poll of nearly 600 U.S. and Canadian workers by Right Management, which has its South Florida office in Fort Lauderdale. Fifty per cent say networking is the key while 22 per cent point to a job board and 19 per cent a staffing agency or recruiter as instrumental to finding a job. More
