Google's HR boss explains the key to preparing for an interview

Landing a job interview is an accomplishment in itself, but it's only half the battle. Once you secure the interview, you want to nail it. Practice and preparation are key, according to Laszlo Bock, the SVP of People Operations at Google. He offers his best advice to job candidates in a recent LinkedIn post. Since you can anticipate 90 per cent of the interview questions you're going to face, Bock suggests writing down 20 potential questions, and then answering them.

The surprising places where Canada is creating jobs

Canada's job market may not be struggling quite as badly as recent reports suggest, according to new numbers from StatsCan. The agency's labour force survey, released last month, found Canada lost 4,300 jobs in December, but an alternate measure released this week says the country actually added 21,800 jobs that month.

CIBC report: Job quality in Canada dives to record low — and there's no relief in sight

The quality of jobs in Canada has dipped to its lowest level in a quarter century, revealing a structural issue that could prove difficult to reverse, says a new study by CIBC. The big bank said its employment quality index, which slipped 1.8 per cent last year, was down 15 per cent since the early 1990s.

More jobs coming to Calgary and Edmonton in 2015 despite oil price fears

What a difference a few months make. Throughout 2014, Calgary and Edmonton were ranked as the top two Canadian 'Markets to Watch', both ranking high for investment, development and housing prospects. That ranking would likely be different today: Low oil prices have thrown a monkey wrench into developers' 2015 plans. But don't despair — while low oil prices will never be good for Alberta, the news isn't all bad, and there is hope on the horizon.
