Norbrook launch major recruitment drive for 400 new jobs

Norbrook Laboratories, a Newry company which researches, develops and manufactures veterinary pharmaceuticals for the global market is planning a major recruitment drive set to employ 400 new staff over the next 2 years. The jobs are part of an ongoing expansion programme by Norbrook Laboratories which has already seen 230 new staff join the company since January 2013.

Paper science degree pays off with 100 per cent job placement

Studying paper science at Miami University might not sound like the most thrilling subject for today's college student. But if that student wants a job, it will do just fine. Miami is one of only eight schools in the country to offer the concentration, with a track record that is crystal clear: Every graduate of the program finds a job. This year, the average salary for 11 graduates is $66,000.

Video gaming industry offers high pay, more jobs

Teenagers take note: Turns out those dreams of being paid for video gaming aren't so far-fetched. Even as other sectors of the economy struggle, Canada's video game development industry continues to expand rapidly with growing numbers of jobs and rising salaries. Canada's video game development industry rose more than five per cent between 2011 and 2012 and now accounts for more than $2.3 billion worth of the country's gross domestic product.

Employees need technical skills to land hard-to-find jobs

A lot of people want to work, but not everyone has the skills to get hired. Scott LaPorte sees it every day. "The unemployment out there is so intense that we are inundated by folks with college degrees that can't find jobs for more than $8 an hour," said LaPorte, vice president and partner with Trojan Labor and Acrux Staffing in Augusta.

New grads: Are you ready for the 'real world'?

The prospects for soon-to-graduate accounting and finance professionals seem to be looking up. Hiring of new college graduates is expected to rise 13 percent this year, according to the "Job Outlook 2013" survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Moreover, the association singled out finance as the degree most in demand, and accounting ranked third.
