CIPS BC supports Computer Science students at B.C. post secondary schools in a variety of ways

For the last two years CIPS BC has been able to give teams of Computer Science students at universities around the province some help with travel costs to attend the annual ACM Regional Programming Contest in Vancouver each November. In Vancouver, on February 3rd 2015, CIPS BC President Dave O'Leary, I.S.P., ITCP, presented awards to members of the UBC Comp. Sci. teams who took part at ACM.

The 2015 CIPS PEI Curling Event will be held on Thursday, March 6. As with previous years, this is a "for fun" event and no previous curling experience is required to participate. Curling is a great social event for networking since teams play two (4 end) games against other teams — not to mention the camaraderie fostered with fellow co-workers and teammates!

Review: Microsoft Surface Pro 3

When Microsoft reported quarterly earnings for its fiscal year, the company said it sold more than $1 billion worth of Surface tablets. That may sound impressive, but at $1000 per Surface Pro 3, sales could be as low as a million units for the quarter. With adoption still very slow, Microsoft views the Surface as one piece of its enterprise software strategy.
