Microsoft researcher wins Turing Award

Leslie Lamport, a principal researcher at Microsoft Research, has won the Association for Computing Machinery's A.M. Turing Award for his pioneering work in advancing the correctness, performance, reliability and consistency of computing systems, the ACM has announced. His efforts enabled the building of distributed computing systems that work.

Tom M. Mitchell founded and chairs the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University, where he is the E. Fredkin University Professor. 8 useful hotkeys and features for Windows 8.1
CIPS via Microsoft TechNet
By introducing an OS that melds the traditional desktop computing experience with a mobile UI experience, Microsoft has signaled a transformational change in regards to daily computing with Windows 8.1.

While the traditional keystrokes such as CTRL + P (to print an activated document or image) still exist, I became enthusiastic around the new set of shortcuts which improved my day-to-day experience using Windows 8.1. The shortcuts and hotkeys that I discovered allow me to do more in less steps, thus freeing up my time, and in some cases memory and processor cycles, to simply do more.
