Information technology training for non-IT professionals to boost Ontario's productivity and performance

A 12-month made-in-Canada competency-building and training project, "Digital Competencies and Training Modules for Non-IT Professionals", is now underway. This project is paid for in part by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities' (MTCU's) Sector Initiatives Fund (SIF).

The CIPS Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday May 28, 2013 from 5:30 to 6:00 pm, prior to our monthly scheduled CIPS dinner meeting. The event will be held at the Dalhousie University Club, 6259 South St., Halifax. In order to formally conduct the meeting and receive its reports, there is a requirement to have 15 members in good standing attend either in person or by phone. Please mark this date in your calendar and make plans to attend. The meeting will only take 15-20 minutes to complete.

Windows Blue preview due at end of June

Microsoft plans to release a preview version of Windows 8's update, code-named Windows Blue, at the end of June, according to Julie Larson-Green, a corporate vice president in charge of the OS's development. Larson-Green didn't say what changes Windows Blue will feature, but conceded that Microsoft has discussed user complaints about the removal of the Start menu on Windows 8 and that it might be useful to restore it.
