Speed golf

Bill Benko plays more than 100 rounds of golf a year. But the 57-year-old wouldn't have that stat — in fact, he isn't so sure how much he'd play at all — without the new program called the Express Lane at Angel Park Golf Club in Las Vegas. This innovative promotion, which launched this spring, requires players to finish their rounds in three hours and 45 minutes. "There was no way I'd play golf if it was four-and-a-half-hour rounds. It's not enjoyable," he says. More

A major change in thinking?

Yahoo News Network    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The pinnacle for most golf courses is hosting a PGA Tour event. But The Riviera Country Club is not most golf courses. The site of the recent Northern Trust Open has a history that overshadows the action on the fairways and greens. Nestled in the Pacific Palisades of Los Angeles, Riviera has hosted the tournament since 1973, save for two years it was preparing for more prominent events. Before that time, though, it was the playground of the biggest names in Hollywood. More

Upgrades at North Sydney's Northern Yacht Club mean the club will be able to resume holding national and international sailing competitions. The work includes removing and refacing the existing wharf, the establishment of a rock face with concrete anchors, the removal of a deteriorated wharf structure and the installation of a floating dock system. The magic of Ireland comes to life through its golf courses, castles
World Golf    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The 2011 Solheim Cup introduced the dynamite Killeen Castle Golf Club to the world. The Jack Nicklaus course in County Meath, just outside Dublin, proved to be an excellent tournament venue as the Europeans won in dramatic fashion. But let's be honest. The course wouldn't induce such awe without the majestic 12th-century Killeen Castle hovering over the final green. More
