Missouri DOT Details Options to Toll Interstate 70

PPP Pays Off Early for West Virginia Division of Highways

The West Virginia Division of Highways awarded its first contract under the Public Private Partnership option last week but state Transportation Secretary Paul Mattox says the option won't be overused. Lexington, Kentucky-based Bizzack Construction has been awarded a $45.2 million contract to build three miles of the Coalfields Expressway in southern West Virginia. The project will complete the link from the West Virginia Turnpike at Sophia to Mullens.

Las Vegas Paving Gets $225 Million Bypass Contract

The Regional Transportation Commission awarded its portion of the Boulder City bypass to Las Vegas Paving Corp. on Dec. 11, signifying the next step of linking Phoenix and Las Vegas by interstate. Las Vegas Paving beat out Ames-Fisher Joint Venture and Eldorado Mountain Constructors after the commission brought in evaluators to examine each company's proposal. In April, the commission approved a $350,000 stipend to the two losing contractors for costs accrued and time spent during the planning phase.

Hays, Kansas, Eyes New Wastewater Treatment Plant
The Hays Daily News
The wastewater treatment plant for the city of Hays, Kansas, is in need of replacement, and the city commission will discuss the issue at its regular meeting at City Hall. The plant was built in 1953, and standards have become more stringent since that time. "The reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plant is necessary to meet the Kansas Department of Health and Environment permit requirements for 2018," said Paul Briseno, Hays assistant city manager.

The New N.Y. Bridge Progress Report

Progress on The New NY Bridge Construction project continues to run smoothly. Carla M. Julian, the Community Outreach/Diversity Manager for Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC said that, "One of the world's largest floating cranes, the Left Coast Lifter (A.K.A. I Lift NY), will make the first pick-up of the larger approach span pile caps early next year. Pile cap and pier installation is ongoing."

New $375 Million Arena on Las Vegas Strip Beginning to Take Shape

Only four months ago, construction workers were boring holes 70 feet deep and preparing to pour concrete for a foundation. But recently, the ovular skeleton of the $375 million, 20,000-seat arena was taking shape, with the steel work even showing the first signs of the suite level.

Officials OK $1.25-Billion Midfield Terminal and Transit Links at LAX

The remodeling of Los Angeles International Airport took a major step recently when officials approved the construction contract for a $1.25-billion midfield concourse that will add 11 passenger gates to accommodate growing air travel. City airport commissioners also initiated preliminary planning and the environmental review for about $4 billion in projects included in the ground transportation plan for LAX.
