Michigan Department of Transportation opts for design-build to complete Gateway project
The Michigan Department of Transportation recently announced it will pursue a design-build procurement process to complete the remaining work on the Gateway project in southwest Detroit. This announcement comes five days after Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Prentis Edwards directed the Detroit International Bridge Co. to cede control of their portion of the $230 million Gateway project and ordered MDOT to complete the remaining work. In the March 8, 2012, Opinion and Order issued by Judge Edwards, the DIBC is to pay $16 million into an account to fund construction by MDOT. More

St. George, Utah, City Council members were going to consider approval of the indoor sports center during their Jan. 24 regular meeting, but Cheryl Hunt, city attorney, said staff had to round up more information – particularly in regard to funding sources for the project – and asked council to table the item. Council can either select the two to four most qualified design-build teams or deny selection of design-build teams and direct staff to no longer pursue the project. More
