High River Prompts Corps of Engineers to Activate Levee Inspection Program in New Orleans
The Times-Picayune
A rising Mississippi River, which reached 11.62 feet above sea level at the Carrollton Gage in New Orleans recently, has prompted the Army Corps of Engineers to activate its levee inspection program and other "flood fighting" strategies, corps officials announced. The Highway Trust Fund is projected to run out of money by the end of the summer, federal taxes on gas and diesel haven't been raised in 20 years, and despite support in both parties, it's not clear what federal funding will be available for state and local infrastructure projects. Join us to discuss who will pick up the tab for road repairs.

From its stunning façade to its project delivery process, the new Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton, located at the major West Coast base of the U.S. Marine Corps near San Diego, represents a standard for military health care facility design. Delivered six months ahead of schedule (completed in November 2013 and opened in December) and more than $100 million under budget, this 500,000-square-foot facility is a welcome replacement for a hospital that was designed and built in the early 1970s.
