How to Fix the Highway Trust Fund
De ja vu all over again. That's what we saw recently on transportation spending. The latest $11 billion "patch" to the Highway Trust Fund continues a trend that has now gone on for several years. Each time the fund comes within days of being unable to make obligated payments to states or transit agencies, Congress bails it out with another cash infusion. This pattern of behavior maximizes uncertainty – reducing the economic value of the very investments we are making – and raises fundamental questions about how federal surface transportation programs should and will be funded in the future.

The Stadium Bidding Begins: Braves Builders Welcome Local Companies
The Marietta Daily Journal
Hundreds of representatives from vendors, subcontractors and suppliers filled an auditorium in Austell recently to learn how to contribute to the construction of the new Atlanta Braves stadium. Pennsylvania STICs to Innovate for Improved Road Safety
United States Department of Transportation
Innovation was the hallmark of former Federal Highway Administrator — now Deputy U.S. Transportation Secretary — Victor Mendez's tenure here at FHWA. And it's no secret that Transportation Secretary Foxx has made it a top priority across DOT as well. Getting safer, more durable projects from idea to reality faster and at less cost just makes sense all around, and it's a key part of GROW AMERICA, the legislative proposal Secretary Foxx sent to Congress last spring.
California's High-Speed Rail Gets Approval for 114-Mile Stretch
California's high-speed passenger rail project won approval from federal officials at the Surface Transportation Board on Tuesday to construct a 114-mile section from Fresno to Bakersfield. The line will be the second section of a larger statewide high-speed rail line plan, which runs 500 miles from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin.
Air Terminal Sector Giants: Morphing TSA Procedures Shape Terminal Designs
The recent evolution of airport terminals has been prompted largely by different patterns of passenger behavior in a post-9/11 world. Passengers have learned get to the airport earlier. They spend less time browsing pre-security retail, opting to queue up in often-lengthy security lines well before boarding. The result? Overcrowding in post-security areas, where retail and dining options have historically been lacking.
