Skanska USA's building business unit, a leading provider of construction management, preconstruction and design-build services, Sept. 15 joined officials from the U.S. Navy, Air Force and Army to celebrate the completion of the Tri-Service Research Laboratory. Plans are underway to find a designer for a new recreation and wellness center Lorain County Metro Parks plans to build in Amherst, Ohio. Park commissioners Sherrill M. Construction begins to widen Route 50 from four to six lanes between Poland Road in Loudoun County and Route 28 in Fairfax County in Virginia. The 3.7-mile design-build project will take three years to complete. Motorists will begin seeing construction equipment and work crews on Oct. 5, weather permitting. Through next spring, crews will be working only on westbound Route 50, restriping pavement and shifting lanes to make room for construction. Traffic on Interstate 15 in Las Vegas will be routed off the freeway for a short distance soon. Crews will be installing girders at the Russell Road overpass those nights. To allow them to work in the needed areas, traffic will be diverted off the freeway, taking the Russell Road off-ramp and then returning directly to the freeway via the on-ramp. More
West Central School begins construction on wind turbine in Indiana Energy Business Review Share
West Central School Corp has started construction on a utility-grade wind turbine project on the school's complex in the state of Indiana. WCSC will utilize the Northern Indiana Public Service Company feed-in-tariff program for renewable energy generation. Republican leaders in the House of Representatives are willing to try and find more money for highway and bridge construction and transit upgrades as part of long-term transportation funding legislation. John Mica, chairman of the Transportation Committee, recently received a commitment from leadership to help identify new sources of funding to try to ensure that budgeting over a six-year period would at least meet today's spending levels, a senior congressional aide told Reuters. DBIA always wants to know what challenges and opportunities practitioners and owners are facing. We listen for what's missing, what works and what doesn’t to allow us to more effectively serve the industry's needs. A case in point is the feedback we've received to DBIA's completely revised contract documents, which were launched in June 2010. We received a variety of questions about the use of the current
forms and addressed a few of these questions for your information. In addition, the DBIA Contract Document Taskforce has graciously agreed to provide additional forms based on feedback from DBIA members and customers. (This will not be a wholesale revision to the new documents.) The Taskforce will be led by Robynne Thaxton-Parkinson, DBIA, who served on the 2010 Task force that revised the documents.
