With the concurrence of Maine officials, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation is issuing a Notice of Intent to Award the Memorial Bridge replacement contract to the design-build team of Archer Western Contractors of Chicago and Canton, Mass., and HNTB Corporation of Westbrook, Maine. More

Suffolk Construction was recently awarded the $15.3 million design-build contract for the MBTA Revere Transit Facility & Streetscape project located in Revere, Mass. The 21,000 square-foot project will feature construction of a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge over Ocean Avenue, an elevated plaza deck above Wonderland MBTA Station, a central plaza, and an at-grade pedestrian crossing over Revere Beach Boulevard. Various park improvements will also be part of the project. More

House Republicans will introduce a multiyear surface transportation reauthorization bill "in the coming weeks" and "hope to move the legislation through the House before the end of the year," Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, announced recently. The bill would expand domestic energy production to pay for transportation infrastructure, with funding levels likely to be at or above current levels. More

The design-build team of McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., and TAYLOR are working with St. Joseph Health System to build a new patient tower, parking structure and central utility plant at the St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, Calif. The team is using design-build so that the experience and expertise of all team members comes into play and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to smooth and speed the work process. Using a range of technologies, the team has been able to speed up the decision-making process and evaluate solutions to design challenges before they go into construction.
