DBIA Milestone: Research Confirms Design-Build Growth
DBIA
In 2009, more legislation authorizing design-build project delivery passed than in any year in DBIA’s history. The rapid growth in design-build projects led to increased interest in DBIA’s education and certification offerings, especially from owners. The growing interest in design-build was clear, so DBIA partnered with RSMeans/Reed Construction Data Market Intelligence to assess design-build’s growth and market share. The research results added hard data to the anecdotal evidence we had been experiencing.

Bridges also serve as metaphors, as singer-songwriter Paul Simon provided with “Bridge over Troubled Waters.”

Minnesota DOT: Crookston Landslide Project on Tap for 2014
Crookston Times
It's been a decade since the slope along the Red Lake River failed just off West Sixth Street in Crookston, Minn., eventually leading to the demolition of several houses and the Motel Country Club. With the area since being developed into a green space featuring natural grasses – with a shelter and memorial bench being the most recent additions – chances are that most Crookston residents really aren't concerning themselves with any worries about continued slope instability along the river in that area.

Will Kempton, the former head of Caltrans who now leads Transportation California, a nonprofit transportation advocacy group, said the initiative would ask voters as early as November 2014 to increase vehicle registration fees gradually over four years.
